  • Scuba Diving Saint Thomas Congo

Scuba diving is a mode of underwater diving in which a scuba diver uses a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (scuba) to breathe underwater. Unlike other modes of diving, which rely either on breath-hold or on breathing supplied under pressure from the surface, scuba divers carry their own source of breathing gas, usually compressed air, allowing them greater freedom of movement than with an air line or diver s umbilical and longer underwater endurance than breath-hold. Scuba equipment may be open circuit, in which exhaled gas is expelled to the surroundings, or a closed or semi-closed circuit rebreather, in which the breathing gas is scrubbed to remove carbon dioxide, and the oxygen used is replenished from a supply of feed gas before being re-breathed. Scuba diving may be done recreationally or professionally in a number of applications, including scientific, military and public safety roles, but most commercial diving uses surface supplied diving equipment when this is practicable. A scuba diver primarily moves underwater by using fins attached to the feet, but external propulsion can be provided by a diver propulsion vehicle, or a sled pulled from the surface. Other equipment includes a dive mask to improve underwater vision, a protective diving suit, equipment to control buoyancy, and equipment related to the specific circumstances and purpose of the dive. Scuba divers are trained in the procedures and skills appropriate to their level of certification by instructors affiliated to the diver certification organisations which issue these certifications. These include standard operating procedures for using the equipment and dealing with the general hazards of the underwater environment, and emergency procedures for self-help and assistance of a similarly equipped diver experiencing problems. A minimum level of fitness and health is required by most training organisations, but a higher level of fitness may be appropriate for some applications. Diving masks and helmets solve this problem by providing an air space in front of the diver s eyes. The refraction error created by the water is mostly corrected as the light travels from water to air through a flat lens, except that objects appear approximately 34% bigger and 25% closer in water than they actually are. Therefore, total field-of-view is significantly reduced and eye–hand coordination must be adjusted. This also affects underwater photography: a camera seeing through a flat port in its housing is affected in the same way as its user s eye seeing through a flat mask viewport, and so its operator must focus for the apparent distance to target, not for the real distance. This is only relevant for manual focusing. Cylindrically curved faceplates such as those used for firefighting full-face masks produce severely distorted views underwater. Commando frogmen concerned about revealing their position when light reflects from the glass surface of their diving masks may instead use special contact lenses to see underwater. Dive lights Water attenuates light by selective absorption. Pure water preferentially absorbs red light, and to a lesser extent, yellow and green, so the color that is least absorbed is blue light. Environmental protection Protection from heat loss in cold water is usually provided by wet suits or dry suits. Wetsuits A wetsuit is a garment, usually made of foamed neoprene, which provides thermal insulation, abrasion resistance and buoyancy. A good close fit and few zips helps the suit to remain waterproof and reduce flushing - the replacement of water trapped between suit and body by cold water from the outside. Suits range from a thin (2 mm or less) shortie , covering just the torso, to a full 8 mm semi-dry, usually complemented by neoprene boots, gloves and hood. Dry suits A dry suit provides thermal insulation to the wearer while immersed in water, and normally protects the whole body except the head, hands, and sometimes the feet. In some configurations, these are also covered. Dry suits are designed to prevent water entering. This generally allows better insulation making them more suitable for use in cold water.

Monster snake found in Red Sea. Dead giant snake on truck responsible for eating 300 men, divers & tourist. According to a story on Facebook A monster snake of epic proportions that was responsible for the deaths of over 300 tourists and over 120 divers in the Red Sea was found and killed by a special team of Egyptian Scientists and Divers... Images have been floating around the net showing what appears to be the carcass of what definitely has to be the world's biggest snake. The story circulating with the pictures claims the snake was found in the Red Sea. They claimed the snake was over 20 feet tall and as long as 3 ½ school buses...(approx 36 feet) The age of the beast, taken its considerable size into consideration was estimated to be over 100 years old. (2 audio takes) Images included pictures of the dead snake on top of some kind of military transport carrier, next to some tanks, being hoisted up by a helicopter among others... I was intrigued by the images as well as the story. I had my own questions and wanted answers... #1 How big can a snake get? #2 How long can a snake live? And last but not least... Who is they? The longest snake in the world is the reticulated python and can grow up to 30 feet long, and according to the people at Guinness World Records the record for longest snake ever in captivity goes to a python named “Medusa” Even at 30 feet long, that's not even as long as one school bus. Reticulated pythons live on average 15 to 20 years with some having reached 25 to 30 years old. Now... Who... is... they? The story claims a specialized team of scientists and divers tracked and killed the raging reptile and as if to give the story some credence they listed some names... They included Scientists like Drs, Karim Mohammed , Mohammed Sharif and Mr. Sea...as well as specialized divers Abdullah Karim, Wael Mohammed and mahmoud Shafik. This would not be the first time a giant reptile was claimed to be caught on film... This pic was alleged to be taken by Belgian Helicopter pilot Col Remy Van Lierde somewhere over the Congo in 1959 at heights over 500 feet, making the snake an estimated 200 feet long. The colonel also claimed, that when going in for a closer look the giant snake it rose up preparing to attack if the helicopter got any closer. So is this dead, dead sea snake real or a hoax? A few things to consider... When I researched these names, the only references I could find of them only lead back to the snake story on some very less than reputable news sites. Not to mention, one of the Dr's names in the article is “Dr. Mr. Sea.” Drawing upon extensive investigative and forensic knowledge gained by my many years of watching Law and Order and CSI, the original, not those lame copy cats..(really just did a google search). I was able to deduce that these photos and the snake are REAL!!! These absolutely 100% real photos of this authentically dead snake began to show up in 2012 on some Persian and Arabic language web sites. But...they did not originate there. They go back as far as 2010 and were originally published by some Vietnamese IT Students under the title “Vietnam Army Captured Giant Snake.” The only thing not real in the pics were the soldiers, and military vehicles. They are in fact just the kind of really cool toys my dad never bought for me. But the snake is real, but would be at most three feet long. Using forced perspective and some clever positioning, these students were able to execute one of the funnest looking hoaxes I think I've ever seen. Sorry internets! In a remote part of Andros Island in the Bahamas, a deep crack in the ground leads into a beautiful and stunning underwater cave system. Jonathan joins a veteran cave explorer to plumb the crystal clear water in the depths of Stargate Blue Hole. ********************************************************************** If you like Jonathan Bird's Blue World, don't forget to subscribe! You can buy some Blue World T-shirts & Swag! http://www.blueworldtv.com/shop You can join us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/BlueWorldTV Twitter https://twitter.com/BlueWorld_TV Instagram @blueworldtv Web: http://www.blueworldTV.com ********************************************************************** Most people, when they think about the Bahamas, imagine sandy beaches, blue water, and colorful coral reefs. What they generally don’t think about is this: limestone. The Bahamas are islands built on a base of limestone—the skeletons of ancient coral reefs accumulated over millions of years. Bahamas limestone often looks like Swiss Cheese, because over thousands of years, slightly acidic rainwater has dissolved holes in it. Sometimes those holes get quite large and fill with water. Hence, they become what are known in the Bahamas as Blue Holes. The Blue World team has traveled to the island of Andros in the Bahamas, to explore one of the most famous Blue Holes in the world: Stargate. Our home away from home? Small Hope Bay Lodge on North Andros. In spite of a strong breeze, flying is the only practical way to reach Stargate. The 25 minute flight takes Jeff and Tim over the beautiful and remote landscape and coastal ocean of Andros Island. Soon, they land on South Andros. At the Congo Town airport, they unload the scuba gear from the airplane. I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting, but Stargate turns out to be practically in the middle of a neighborhood near Congo Town! It even has a sign. Jeff is pointing out a crack in the limestone, sometimes called a fault or a fracture. It’s actually part of a series of fractures stretching more than ten miles, formed during the last ice age when sea levels were lower and stresses within the rock caused some of it to break. Deep underground, this fracture is filled with water. And we’re about to dive inside it! Lowering my expensive underwater camera and lighting system down into the water with a rope makes me a little nervous. Jeff leads us down into the weird, swirly halocline, a layer where the fresh water at the surface mixes with the salt water below. Jeff points out ancient coral, clearly identifiable. This is the stuff that makes up most of the limestone of the island. As I examine the limestone carefully, I can clearly see Star coral….and Brain coral. The overhanging walls of the cavern are covered in flowstone and stalactites. Todd backlights a stalactite to show its shape. Flowstone is a type of formation formed by flowing water in a dry cave, leaving behind delicate limestone formations that look like molten wax on the side of a candle. This formation took thousands of years to form. Looking down, I can see the bottom of the cave at 100 feet but as we progress down this narrow passageway, the bottom is dropping out of sight. It drops to 200 feet, way too deep for us today. We stay near the top of the passageway to keep as shallow as possible. The walls of the cave are decorated in all directions with beautiful and delicate flowstone. The whole place looks like an ornately decorated wedding cake covered in frosting! It’s hard to believe that during the last ice age, when sea levels were much lower, this massive chasm was dry and filled with air. Dripping water from rain up above made all these fantastic decorations. Next we swim into a huge space where the walls bow outward. The water is so clear that the divers look astronauts hovering in space. Only their bubbles betray the presence of water. Remember that crack in the ground up above? Well right now our dive team is about 120 feet directly underneath it. That tiny little fault line I stood across opens up into this massive submerged chasm! Soon we approach the end of the tunnel. We reach a place where rocks have fallen in and blocked the passageway. This is where we turn around and head back. This is an excellent time to concentrate on filming close-ups of the delicate formations on the wall, such as these exquisite stalactites that look like icicles of stone. Jeff points out an incredible flowstone formation that Todd helps me film using his lights. This formation is so thin, that light passes through it like a lampshade.
